Information Sharing and Disclosure
Personally Identifiable Information
We do not share personally identifiable information with third parties, except to further the purpose for which you provided the information, such as fulfilling your request for free information, providing annuity quotes, or submitting your application to an Insurance Company for the purchase of an annuity.
We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our website.
We provide you the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes when we ask for this information.
For example, if you purchase an annuity but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, or if you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may opt out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each newsletter or promotional communication, by emailing us at email@example.com or contact us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below.
As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.
We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, administer the site, track users’ movements around the site, and gather demographic information about our user base. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information.
A cookie is a small file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.
Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed. We use both persistent and session cookies on our website.
We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.
Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept and/or delete cookies already stored on your computer. However, blocking and/or deleting cookies will have a negative impact on the usability of many websites, including ours.
We use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt out of these emails, please see the “Choice/Opt-out” section.
