My Annuity Store Editorial Policy

This editorial policy explains how My Annuity Store researches, writes, reviews and corrects everything we publish. That includes rate tables, carrier reviews, product reviews, comparisons and guides.

What does the My Annuity Store editorial policy cover?

My Annuity Store, Inc. is an independent, licensed insurance agency founded in 2020. We help you compare fixed annuity rates, fixed index annuities and multi-year guaranteed annuities (MYGAs) from 90+ top annuity companies.

  • Our goal: give you clear, accurate annuity information so you can make an informed decision.
  • Our business: our licensed agents sell annuities, so we tell you plainly how we get paid (see below).
  • Our standard: every page describes how a product actually works, not how it is marketed.

Who writes and reviews our content

  • Author: content is written by Jason Caudill, MBA, Founder of My Annuity Store and an annuity industry expert with 20+ years of experience.
  • Product ratings review: our published product ratings are reviewed by Bill Cardwell, CFP®.
  • Fact check: before we publish, we check facts against carrier brochures, state insurance department filings and current rate data.

How we research annuity products

When we review an annuity carrier or product, we look at:

  • Financial strength ratings: from AM Best and the other major rating agencies. Our annuity company reviews list each carrier’s ratings.
  • Product terms: surrender schedules, withdrawal rules, caps and participation rates from current carrier brochures.
  • Current rates: pulled from our rate data provider, AnnuityRateWatch, and updated daily.
  • State availability: checked against carrier product availability.

We do not rely only on carrier marketing materials. When a carrier claim conflicts with third-party data, we flag it or leave it out. Our product rating methodology explains how scores are built.

How we get paid

  • Commissions: My Annuity Store earns a commission from the insurance company when a client buys an annuity through us. That is how we keep the site free to use.
  • Rankings: our best fixed annuity companies list is ranked by rate, financial strength and product features. Commission levels do not decide where a carrier ranks.
  • No paid reviews: we do not accept payment to publish positive reviews or to hide negative information about any carrier.
  • No sponsored articles: we do not publish paid placements as editorial content. If we ever do, they will be clearly labeled “Sponsored.”

How accurate our rate data is

Annuity rates change often, sometimes daily. The rates on My Annuity Store come from a live data feed updated daily. The rate you actually get depends on:

  • Timing: the date your application is submitted and approved.
  • Your state: some products and rates vary by state.
  • Deposit size: some carriers pay higher rates on larger deposits.
  • Carrier approval: the insurance company makes the final decision.

Always confirm the current rate with a licensed agent before you apply. Our rate data methodology explains where our rates come from.

Lock in today's MYGA rate before it moves

Your rate is set by your application date, not the day rates change. Request a quote and we will confirm current rates for your state and premium, in writing, so you can decide before the market moves.

How we keep content up to date

  • Rate pages: updated daily from our live data feed.
  • Carrier and product reviews: updated when a carrier changes its products, rates or ratings.
  • Educational guides: updated when tax law, regulations or market conditions change.
  • Dates: each article shows the date it was last updated, so you can judge how current it is.

How we handle corrections

If you find an error, such as a wrong rate, an outdated carrier rating or a factual mistake, please tell us. We review every correction request and update the page when an error is confirmed.

Licensing and compliance

  • Licensing: My Annuity Store, Inc. is a licensed insurance agency in 47 states.
  • Not investment advice: nothing on this site is investment advice or a recommendation to buy a specific annuity.
  • Insurance products: annuities are insurance products. Make any purchase with the help of a licensed agent who has reviewed your full financial situation.
