Andy is a research tool, not a financial advisor – so when a question crosses into taxes, RMDs, or estate planning, Andy hands you off to a real licensed specialist.
What Andy can do
Andy pulls current MYGA, fixed annuity, and fixed-index annuity rates from 90+ carriers and filters by your state, premium amount, and contract term. Same data source as our public fixed annuity rates page, updated daily.
Ask product-specific questions like “What is the surrender period on the F&G SecureIncome 7?” or “Does the Allianz Accumulation Advantage+ have a market value adjustment?” Andy reads the official PDF brochures from each insurer and quotes them back to you.
Name any two annuities Andy knows, and you will get a clean comparison of rate, term, surrender schedule, minimum premium, riders, and AM Best rating – drawn from each carrier’s brochure rather than marketing copy.

How Andy works (and why the answers can be trusted)

OpenAI as the language layer
Andy runs on OpenAI’s GPT models for natural-language understanding and response generation. The brain interprets your question and writes the reply – but it does not invent annuity facts on its own.

Carrier brochures as the source-of-truth layer
We have indexed the official PDF brochures from every carrier we represent into a private knowledge base using a technique called RAG (retrieval-augmented generation). When you ask a product question, Andy first searches that brochure database for the relevant passages, then writes the answer using those passages as the source. If the brochures do not contain the answer, Andy says so rather than guessing.

Live rate data from AnnuityRateWatch
Rate questions are routed to a separate function that queries our daily rate feed (the same one that powers our rates pages). So when Andy quotes you a 6.50% MYGA, that is a real rate available right now from a real carrier in the states they are licensed in – not an out-of-date training-data figure.
What Andy will not do
By design, Andy stays inside its lane:
- No tax, legal, or investment advice. If you ask about RMDs, Roth conversions, estate planning, Medicaid, or trusts, Andy will route you to a licensed specialist instead of guessing.
- No specific product recommendation without your goals. Andy asks about your timeline, state, and what the money is for before suggesting a product type.
- No sensitive data collection. Andy never asks for SSN, account numbers, or bank info. Quote requests collect only name, email, state, and amount.
- No replacement for a real conversation. Andy is a research tool. The final purchase decision happens with a licensed human specialist who knows your full situation.
Why we built Andy
Most annuity research happens in one of two unsatisfying ways. Either you slog through a comparison site that buries product details behind a lead form, or you call a 1-800 number and get put through to whoever is on rotation. We wanted a third option: a place where someone curious about MYGAs at 11 PM on a Tuesday could get a clear, sourced answer in 30 seconds, with no sales call attached.

Is Andy really free?
Yes. There is no fee, no subscription, no premium tier. Andy is paid for by My Annuity Store as part of how we earn our business – if you eventually purchase an annuity through us, the issuing carrier pays a commission. Asking Andy questions costs you nothing and creates no obligation.
Do I need to create an account or give my email to use Andy?
No. You can ask Andy any product, rate, or comparison question without giving any information. Andy will only ask for your contact details if you specifically request a quote or ask to be contacted by a licensed specialist.
Will Andy recommend a specific annuity for me?
Andy will surface products that fit the criteria you describe (e.g., “I want a 5-year MYGA above 6% in California”). For a true recommendation – one that accounts for your full financial picture, tax situation, and other retirement income sources – Andy will hand you off to a licensed specialist. Recommending a product is regulated advice and we keep that with the humans.
Can Andy give me tax advice?
No. Tax questions (1035 exchanges, Roth conversions, RMD strategy, estate planning, Medicaid spend-down) trigger an automatic handoff to a real licensed specialist. Andy will gather your name and email, send a summary to our team, and you will hear back within one business day.
What information does Andy collect about me?
If you only ask Andy questions, we collect nothing personally identifying. If you start a quote request or ask to be contacted, Andy collects your first name, email, state, and (optionally) approximate premium amount and product interest – the same information you would put on our quote request form. That data is sent to our licensed team and stored under our published privacy policy. Andy never asks for SSN, account numbers, or banking details.
How current are Andy’s answers?
Rate data is refreshed daily from the AnnuityRateWatch feed – the same source that powers our public rates pages. Carrier brochures are re-indexed when the carrier publishes a new product or updates an existing one. If Andy quotes a rate or a contract feature that does not look right, ask Andy when the data was last updated – it will tell you, and you can verify against the carrier’s own brochure.
Who built Andy and is the underlying model trained on my conversations?
Andy was built in-house by My Annuity Store on top of OpenAI’s API. Per OpenAI’s enterprise terms, conversations with Andy through our API are not used to train OpenAI’s public models. We do log conversations on our side for quality and compliance review. Personal information you share with Andy is handled under our privacy policy.
What if Andy gives me a wrong answer?
Andy is a research tool, not an oracle. We have built guardrails – source citation from brochures, automatic handoff on regulated topics, and conversation logging – but no AI is perfect. Treat anything Andy tells you about rates, terms, or product features as a starting point, then verify against the carrier brochure (Andy will give you the link), or call us at 855-583-1104 and talk to a real specialist.
